James Baipaye Seekpee

Attorney James Baipaye Seekpee is an Associate Attorney at CMB Law Group, LLC. He has over nine (9) years of legal experience and is licensed to practice law in the Republic of Liberia.

 At CMB Law Group, LLC., he serves as the lead counsel on several matters ranging from labor issues including drafting employment contracts, negotiating collective bargaining agreement, staff handbook, representation at administrative hearings/courts, to property matters including land sale agreement, drafting a petition for letters of administration, Lease Agreement, as well as litigation on various matters.

Attorney Seekpee served as an In-house Legal Counsel at MNG Gold Liberia, Inc. at its Kokoya Mine in Kokoya, Bong County, from 2015 to 2019, where he ensured that the company operated within the confines of the Laws of Liberia at all times. He liaised with the Company’s external counsel on cases that went to court; he associated with the State to prosecute over twenty-seven (27) criminal cases, of which they won nineteen (19), lost three (3); and five (5) were ongoing. His record on labor issues was a success, as, during his employment, there were only five labor-related cases, and he won two (2), and three (3) were ongoing. He wrote the Employee handbook, and along with other senior staff negotiated with the Union the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), among others.

Attorney Seekpee also worked as an Associate with Brumskine and Associates from 2012 to 2015, where he developed his expertise in labor matters and litigation. As the only junior lawyer with the Firm at the time, he represented clients on behalf of the Firm at all labor hearings in various counties. He, along with Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine negotiated on behalf of Arcelor Mittal Liberia with the Government of Liberia the Sanniquellie/Yekepa Road project.

 Attorney Seekpee earned his Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) degree from the University of Liberia in 2009, and his Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) from Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, the University of Liberia in 2013.
